AIMS Limited recognises and accepts its responsibility under the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 to ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, the health, safety and welfare of its employees and all others who may be affected by its activities.

We are committed to maintaining safe and healthy working conditions across all operations, including marine consultancy services, offshore activities, surveys, inspections, audits, DP FMEA studies, and proving trials.

Health and safety is regarded as a core business priority and an integral part of all operational planning and decision-making.

  1. Scope of Policy

This policy applies to:

  • All employees of AIMS Limited
  • Contractors, consultants and subcontractors working on behalf of AIMS Limited
  • All activities undertaken by AIMS Limited, both onshore and offshore
  • All work carried out at client sites, vessels, offshore installations and remote locations
  1. Legal Framework

AIMS Limited is committed to complying with all relevant health and safety legislation and associated regulations, including but not limited to:

  • Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974
  • Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999
  • Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER)
  • Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER) where applicable
  • Personal Protective Equipment at Work Regulations 1992 (as amended)
  • Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 2013 (RIDDOR)
  • Working Time Regulations 1998
  • Merchant Shipping and Maritime Health and Safety regulations where applicable to offshore operations

We will also comply with relevant client-specific safety management systems, permit-to-work procedures, and offshore safety requirements.

AIMS Limited is committed to:

  • Preventing injury and ill health in all workplaces and operational environments
  • Identifying hazards and assessing risks associated with all activities
  • Implementing effective control measures to reduce risks to as low as reasonably practicable (ALARP)
  • Ensuring safe systems of work are developed, implemented and followed
  • Providing appropriate training, instruction and supervision
  • Promoting a proactive safety culture based on reporting and continuous improvement
  • Ensuring compliance with client, regulatory and industry standards
  1. Responsibilities

5.1 Management Responsibility

Management at AIMS Limited is responsible for:

  • Ensuring this policy is implemented effectively
  • Providing adequate resources for health and safety management
  • Ensuring risk assessments and safe systems of work are in place
  • Monitoring compliance with this policy
  • Reviewing health and safety performance regularly

5.2 Employee and Contractor Responsibility

All personnel working for or on behalf of AIMS Limited are required to:

  • Take reasonable care of their own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by their actions
  • Comply with all safety procedures, instructions and risk controls
  • Use equipment and personal protective equipment correctly where required
  • Report hazards, incidents, near misses and unsafe conditions without delay
  • Cooperate with management on all health and safety matters
  • Stop work if they believe conditions present an unacceptable risk
  1. Risk Assessment and Safe Systems of Work

In accordance with the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999, suitable and sufficient risk assessments will be carried out for all significant work activities.

Where required, documented safe systems of work will be implemented, including method statements, permit-to-work systems and client-specific safety procedures.

  1. Offshore and Marine Operations

Given the nature of offshore and marine consultancy work, AIMS Limited recognises the increased risks associated with:

  • Vessel-based operations
  • Offshore installations and wind farms
  • Remote working environments
  • Marine survey and inspection activities

All offshore activities will be planned and executed in accordance with applicable maritime regulations, client safety management systems, and recognised industry standards.

  1. Training and Competence

AIMS Limited will ensure that all personnel are:

  • Competent to perform their assigned duties
  • Provided with appropriate training and refresher training where necessary
  • Informed of relevant risks and control measures
  • Supported in maintaining professional and technical competence
  1. Incident Reporting and Investigation

All accidents, incidents, near misses and unsafe conditions must be reported promptly.

Where incidents occur, AIMS Limited will ensure appropriate investigation is carried out to identify root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions.

Where required, incidents will be reported under RIDDOR 2013 and to relevant clients or authorities.

  1. Monitoring and Review

Health and safety performance will be monitored and reviewed regularly to ensure continuous improvement.

This policy will be reviewed at least annually, or sooner where required due to changes in legislation, operational activity or industry best practice.
